Introduction

AMS 4975 Titanium Bar specifies a beta titanium alloy composition: Ti-3Al-8V-6Cr-4Mo-4Zr (also known as Beta C Titanium Alloy or UNS R58640 Titanium Alloy). This ultra high strength titanium alloy offers the highest tensile strength among commercially available titanium alloys (typically >1400 MPa after heat treatment), combined with lightweight titanium alloy barexcellent corrosion resistance titanium bar, and high strength to weight ratio titanium characteristics.

As a high performance beta titanium alloy, AMS 4975 is heat treatable via solution treatment and aging, achieving high tensile strength titanium rod properties while maintaining good ductility and fatigue resistant titanium alloy behavior. Unlike alpha-beta alloys (Grade 5), this aerospace grade titanium alloy provides deeper hardenability, allowing larger cross-sections to be uniformly heat treated. It also exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in chloride, seawater, and reducing acid environments.
